These two are real free spirits, being Beardies they have minds of their own, and will feel free to accept or ignore commands based on their current feelings. They live life with a boundless spirit of enthusiasm, and are at their best bounding freely through heather clad hills like those in the background. This is their natural home, and before the Kennel Club got their hands on them, these dogs were simply called Hairy Scottish Mountain Dogs. A perfect description. They were used for cattle droving, through mountain passes just like this one, and this is where their free will and their free thinking was an asset.
These hills are infused with a mystery and spaciousness which truely frees the spirit. Walking in these high places releases something small and earth bound and leaves a sense of reaching into the sky itself. I never feel freer than I do when walking the Highland mountains with my doggie companions…everything else lifts away into nothingness, leaving me lighter and filled with joy.
